Patrick Cavanaugh is the Education Director of the New Story Clearfield School. Patrick has been involved in a wide variety of fields that positively impact children and families. He has been an emotional support teacher for 15 years and has also worked in juvenile justice, child protective services, and mental health. His breadth of experience has helped him to establish programs and activities that engage students in all aspects of their development.
Patrick has a master’s degree in special education and has earned Pennsylvania certifications for grades 7-12 in English and social studies and grades K-12 in special education and principal.

Susan Griffith, Regional Director of Education

Susan Griffith, D. Ed, is the Regional Director of Education for New Story’s Western Region. Susan began working with New Story in 2013 and has nine years of experience in special education, curriculum and instruction, and leadership.
Susan obtained her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree in special education from Oakland University, and she earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
In her free time, Susan likes to spend time with her husband and three young children. They enjoy several extracurricular activities throughout the week, including dance, gymnastics and swimming. Susan is an active member at the local YMCA, where she serves on the board. She is also a member of Leadership Indiana County, which is a course available to professionals in the community interested in growing their leadership by organizing a large-scale community service project.

Angela O’Brien is the Clinical Director for New Story’s Western Region. Angela worked for the New Story team from 2006-12 in a variety of capacities, including Therapeutic Support Staff, Behavior Specialist Consultant and Clinical Supervisor. In her time away from New Story, Angela worked in the behavioral health field, leading clinical and operations teams as they delivered mental health and autism services to clients in need across Pennsylvania and Ohio. Angela rejoined the New Story team in August of 2017 as the Regional Clinical Director for the Western Region.
Angela obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Juniata College and her master’s degree in human services from Hood College. She completed coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Technology and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2011. Her passion for clinical training and supervision led her to pursue both her BCBA and Mental Health First Aid Instructor certificate.
Angela is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside New Story clinical leadership to improve the lives of team members, students and their families.
